Update from the PE department

Year 8 continued their successful start to the season wearing their new kit sponsored by Rack Storage solutions LTD (see website www.rackstorage.co.uk) with another huge win. Goals from Harrison Smith x3, Harrison Shaw x3, Elliot Johnson and William Andiyapan saw off Icknield School 8-1 in round two of the National Cup. However, it was man of the match Tomas Gálvez who stole the show with a faultless performance in left midfield and later in centre midfield.

Year 7 A team started the County Cup campaign in a similar fashion with an away fixture against John Warner school. Goals from Sam Ejjayah x2, Bradley Smith x2, Freddie Roe, Henry Burt and Kayan Joseph sealed a 7-1 first round victory. However, again man of the match was won by a non-goal scorer for a solid powerful performance from Joe Warren in the centre of the park.

In Rugby, Year 10 kick started their National Cup competition away at JFK School. The 23 man strong squad showed they meant business with early tries from Joe Picariello and James McVeigh. James went on to score a second with other tries from Connor Hughes-Sparrow x2, Billy Thomson x2, Travis Rach x2 and an exceptional run line from Alex Sommerbauer scored the try of the game. However, it was Harry Bambrough’s ability to turn over the ball, pressurise opposition and superb cardiovascular endurance to hit every ruck that saw him win man of the match. With John McVeigh kicking 7/10 conversions, the score finished 64-0 leaving the boys thriving for a second round tie against local rivals Sandringham next week.

Text Messaging Service

Following our successful pilot in Years 10 to 11 last week, we will be extending our text messaging service to all parents from Years 7 to 11 from next week.  Texts will be sent for being late to registration and for absence from school.  The 'late' text will be to inform you of the fact that your son was late to school so that you can discuss the importance of punctuality with him. The 'absence' text will be sent to parents who have not communicated with school regarding their son's absence asking them to contact the school to give a reason for the absence.  The aim of the texts is to communicate these two key elements to you effectively and efficiently to ensure the safety of all of our pupils.
