It’s Romeo and Juliet but not with men in tights

It’s Romeo and Juliet but not with men in tights; Godzilla leads the audience in rendition of YMCA

Year 10 students enjoyed the diverse pleasures of London’s Bankside on Tuesday night with a visit to the Tate Modern, dining at Nando’s and an innovative production of Romeo and Juliet at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. A great time was had by all. The production was high octane, memorable and moving. Just don’t write about Godzilla’s Village People karaoke performance in next year’s examination.

Mr R Skipper

On a warm summer evening, as help for our GCSE Shakespeare studies we stood in his globe, eagerly awaiting Romeo and Juliet, and the ‘Vibrant Volatile’ rendition that was promised to us. Indeed, by the end, I believe I speak for everyone by saying it was just that and more. A relevant, accessible and most importantly needed rendition of what is such an iconic play. The humour and references to modernity made it quite comprehensible and alive, opposed to just a text on a page, something sure to help all that visited. Overall, a great evening’s entertainment, guaranteed to stay in our minds.
